CulturaFolio is a tool for teachers of Spanish as a foreign language to aid them to embed culture in their daily Spanish teaching. It contains statements describing the Perspectives, Products, and Practices of the Hispanic world.

Teaching

Information about the teaching and learning a second culture.

Perspectives

Perspectives are the “why” people behave the way they do. It is their attitudes, values, ideas, and perceptions of the world.

Products

Products are the “what” people produce, such as books, food, music, monuments, dances, etc.

Practices

Practices are the “how” people do things in their daily lives, such as making friends, going to school, etc.
Following the three components of culture as endorsed by the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL) in the World-Readiness Standards for Learning Languages: Perspectives, Practices, and Products, this website provides statements arranged by topics for Practices, by country for Products and by values for Perspectives.

Perspectives

This section contains statements, taken from a survey, describing some of the perspectives of sixteen values Hispanics advocate. Two hundred Hispanic people from twenty countries (Spanish America and Spain) responded to the survey.
Products
 

Products

The main purpose of this section is to provide teachers with information and materials for twenty Hispanic countries. These materials could be used to support a particular statement from Perspectives or to add information for a determined statement form the Practices section.
Practices
 

Practices

The purpose of these statements is to aid teachers in the formulation of their daily teaching of cultural objectives. These statements could also be used as a self-progress cultural development tool.
